The Sabden Way

A Circular Walk Round the Beautiful Sabden Valley - 9 miles

Step Row Continue up the steep hill to pass the housing estate built in 1968 and further along a row of terraced cottages still known locally by the original name of Step Row. The lower half of the row was built in 1792 by the Grimshaw family to house workers from their calico print works in Sabden. In the centre of Step Row is a converted farm house, number 113, which pre-dates the rest of the row and was built in 1780 or possibly earlier.
