Continue up the steep hill to
pass the housing estate built in 1968 and further along a row of terraced cottages still
known locally by the original name of Step Row. The lower half of the row was built in
1792 by the Grimshaw family to house workers from their calico print works in Sabden. In
the centre of Step Row is a converted farm house, number 113, which pre-dates the rest of
the row and was built in 1780 or possibly earlier. |
