Follow the path down the hill;
on the left is a single house called Cockshotts Farm and on the right lie three terraced
cottages known as 'Heyhouses' .'Heyhouses' or 'Sabden Hey' is the oldest part of the
present village of Sabden. To the locals the cottages are known as 'Joe Bond Cottages'
this gentleman being the local gamekeeper for the Huntroyde Estate in the 1920s and 30s.
Walk down the track to join the top end of Wesley Street originally known as Long Row. The
church of St Nicholas just to the left was built in 1841 at a cost of £1,200. Turn right
down Wesley Street and walk back into the centre of Sabden. |
