Continue up the track, keeping
left up the subsequent well-defined track to the old farmhouse. This is Stainscombe Farm
dating from 1598 and is currently being renovated by Simon Gill, eldest son of the late Mr
and Mrs Roy Gill of Ratten Clough Farm. Stainscombe was occupied in the 18th century by
two men from Luton who made imitation beaver hats. These were called Lancashire Beaver
Hats and were made from rabbit skin and wool. |
